PRESS RELEASE: Annual Review 2024 - Transport
The Council’s Annual Review of the transport sector, published today, highlights that emissions increased last year and that even with the full implementation of proposed policies and measures the sector will exceed its emissions ceiling. Reliance on expensive, imported fossil fuels needs to end if the sector is to reduce its emissions.

PRESS RELEASE: Annual Review 2024 - Industry and Waste
The Council, who today published its annual review of the Industry and Waste sectors, has said that increasing the use of timber in construction and using modern methods of construction is urgently needed. The Council also highlighted that introducing whole-life carbon assessments and targets in the planning process for public buildings is required to help achieve the sectoral target.

On the basis of these projections, Ireland is very likely to miss both its first and second carbon budget.
